Post-Match Reaction: Nidzam Jamil Urges Stronger Winning Mentality

Sidang media selepas perlawanan Negeri Sembilan FC vs Terengganu FC | Liga Super 2025/26 | LS10 | 22 November | Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman

Negeri Sembilan FC were left with mixed emotions after a 1–1 draw against Terengganu FC at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman, despite playing with a one-man advantage for most of the match.

In the post-match press conference, head coach Nidzam Jamil shared an honest and reflective assessment of his team’s performance, calling for greater maturity, tactical discipline, and a true “winning mentality.”

“We lost two points today.”

Opening his remarks, Nidzam admitted that the team should have secured all three points, especially after Terengganu were reduced to 10 men early in the match.

“I feel we lost two points. Against 10 men, we needed to show better tactical management and know how to kill the game.”

Despite the numerical advantage, Nidzam highlighted that Terengganu continued to control portions of the match and even threatened late on, exposing moments of naivety from his squad.

Learning How to ‘Kill the Game’

The head coach emphasised that closing out matches is not just about tactical precision, but also mental strength.

“We need to grow mentally as winners. When we’re leading, we must know how to finish the game. We cannot afford small mistakes.”

He cited previous matches—against Brunei and Penang—where similar lapses occurred, reminding the team that these patterns must be corrected for the club to progress.

Playing Against 10 Men Is Not Always Easier

Nidzam also pushed back on the perception that facing a team with fewer players automatically guarantees superiority.

“Many people don’t agree, but playing against 10 is often the hardest. The team with 10 players usually shows more concentration than the 11.”

He stressed that football requires collective thinking—numerical advantage only matters when the entire team responds with the right mentality and discipline.

Praise for Luqman Hakim’s First Super League Goal

One bright spot from the match was Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, who scored his first Liga Super goal for NSFC.

“I’m happy for him. He works hard in training and with the national team. He deserves that goal.”

Nidzam expressed confidence that Luqman’s continued development will benefit the squad in upcoming matches.

Recognising Progress, But Demanding More

Reflecting on their opponents, Nidzam reminded that Terengganu—consistently finishing in the top four in recent seasons—are a strong side, while Negeri Sembilan are still building from last year’s 13th-place finish.

“There is improvement, but why take one point when we could take three? We must learn and grow from this.”

Despite the frustration, he remained positive about the team’s trajectory, stressing that such challenges are part of the evolution of a developing squad.

Negeri Sembilan FC resume preparations immediately, with Nidzam emphasising that the next phase of the season requires sharper focus, stronger mentality, and the hunger to secure maximum points.

Demi Negeri, Demi Negara. Hobin Jang Hobin!

Late Equaliser Denies Negeri Sembilan FC in Hard-Fought Draw at Paroi

Terengganu FC staged a late comeback to hold Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) to a 1-1 draw in this evening’s Super League clash at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Paroi.

Despite being reduced to 10 men as early as the 15th minute, the visitors displayed remarkable resilience to challenge the home side throughout the match. Terengganu’s Myanmar import, Kyaw Min Oo, was shown a straight red card by referee Muhammad Usaid Jamal after a foul on Joseph Esso.

With a numerical advantage, Nidzam Jamil’s men piled relentless pressure on the Terengganu goal, which was initially guarded by Syed Muhammad Nasrulhaq. However, the goalkeeper was later forced off due to injury and replaced by Suhaimi Husin.

NSFC finally broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time when Luqman Hakim Shamsudin finished clinically, giving the Hobin Jang Hobin faithful plenty to cheer about as the teams headed into the break 1-0 ahead.

The second half saw Terengganu reorganise their play, pushing forward with counter-attacking intent despite the disadvantage. NSFC’s defence held firm for most of the half, thwarting several promising attempts from the visitors.

However, the equaliser eventually arrived in the 90th minute when Nurillo Tukhtasinov capitalised on a well-placed pass from Muhammad Ubaidullah Shamsul Fazli to level the score.

The 1-1 result stood until the final whistle, with both sides ultimately settling for a share of the points.

Syahmi Adib Earns Malaysia U-23 Call-Up for 33rd SEA Games

Negeri Sembilan FC is proud to celebrate another milestone in the development of our young talents as goalkeeper Syahmi Adib has been officially called up to the Malaysia U-23 national squad for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games in Songkhla, Thailand, taking place from 6 to 18 December.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper has shown tremendous growth, discipline, and maturity throughout the season. His dedication in training and consistency between the posts have not only strengthened NSFC’s depth but also caught the attention of the national selectors.

This call-up marks a significant step forward in Syahmi’s journey, and the entire Jang family stands firmly behind him as he prepares to don the national colours on one of Southeast Asia’s biggest sporting stages.

As he joins the young Harimau Muda squad, we believe Syahmi will bring the same hunger, composure, and fighting spirit he displays each day at the club.

𝘿𝙚𝙢𝙞 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙞, 𝘿𝙚𝙢𝙞 𝙉𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙧𝙖.

All the best, Syahmi — the pride of Tanah Adat marches with you!

Young Talents Shine as Negeri Sembilan FC Youth Players Earn Senior Call-Up

Negeri Sembilan FC continued to demonstrate their commitment to long-term player development as five rising talents from the club’s youth structure were handed a valuable opportunity to feature alongside the senior squad in the recent international Tier 2 friendly against the Timor Leste national team on Sunday.

The five players — Adam Haris, Afif Imran, Muhammad Asyraaf, Zuryhakim and Airiel Zafran — were included in the matchday setup, marking an important milestone in their progression from academy prospects to potential future mainstays of the first team.

Their involvement reflects the club’s strategic focus on creating a clear development pathway, ensuring that promising young players gain early exposure to the tempo, physicality and tactical demands of senior-level football.

Training and competing in a professional environment such as this friendly match allows these young talents to accelerate their growth while building confidence and understanding of the senior game.

More importantly, this initiative highlights Negeri Sembilan FC’s belief that the future of the club lies in nurturing homegrown players who embody the spirit, identity and pride of Tanah Adat.

A small step today, a big beginning for the future of Negeri Sembilan.

With continued dedication, guidance from the coaching staff, and support from fans, these five young players represent the next generation of Hobin Jang Hobin — ready to rise, ready to contribute, and ready to carry the club forward in the years to come.

N9FC U-18 End Piala Belia Season with Fighting Spirit

Negeri Sembilan FC U-18 concluded their 2025 Piala Belia campaign in 10th place, showing determination and perseverance throughout a challenging season.

After 26 matches, the young Jangs collected 28 points, registering eight wins, four draws, and fourteen defeats, with 35 goals scored and 42 conceded. Despite the mid-table finish, the squad displayed steady growth and valuable experience competing among the nation’s top youth sides.

Leading the scoring charts for Negeri Sembilan was defender Aswan Bin Adi, who remarkably netted 13 goals — an outstanding achievement for a defensive player. His contributions, often from set pieces and attacking headers, played a crucial role in many of the team’s victories.

Following him was Muhammad Danish Khalishah, who continued to impress as a forward with eight goals to his name, while Farish Haiqal Bin Rosman added four goals across the campaign. Midfielder Muhammad Afiq Haiqal Bin Mohd Al Hafiz also chipped in with three goals, showing his versatility and attacking drive from midfield.

In terms of discipline, Muhammad Iskandar Bin Aznan recorded the highest number of yellow cards with eight bookings, followed closely by Aliff Fahmi Bin Efendi and Muhammad Zakuan Bin Zaidan, who both accumulated six. These statistics reflect the team’s aggressive style of play and commitment on the pitch, though also highlight an area for improvement as the squad continues to mature.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Zakuan Bin Zaidan was shown two red cards this season, while Muhammad Afiq Haiqal Bin Mohd Al Hafiz, Aliff Fahmi Bin Efendi, Zafri Haiqal Bin Zairin, and Muhammad Darwish Iqram Bin Abdul Rahim each received one. Despite these setbacks, the players consistently displayed strong fighting spirit and teamwork throughout the competition.

Overall, Negeri Sembilan FC U-18 can take pride in their progress this season. With standout performers like Aswan Adi and Danish Khalishah leading by example, the campaign has provided crucial development opportunities for players aspiring to break into the senior squad in the future.

The team’s focus now shifts toward refining defensive consistency and enhancing their attacking rhythm as they continue their journey of nurturing the next generation of Negeri Sembilan football talent.

Faliq Firdaus Confirms January Transfer Plans and Provides Update on Alex Agyarkwa’s Situation

Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) Chief Executive Officer Faliq Firdaus has revealed that the club is preparing for an active January 2026 transfer window, with strategic reinforcements planned to strengthen key areas of the squad. At the same time, he acknowledged ongoing discussions surrounding the status of midfielder Alex Agyarkwa, hinting at the possibility of changes ahead.

Speaking in an interview with Harimau Malaya, held during the official announcement of MILLS as the “Footwear Partner” of Terengganu FC at Holiday Inn Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, Faliq outlined the club’s current focus on maintaining stability while continuing its rebuilding process.

“We are still in the recovery phase,” he said. “But we also understand the importance of maintaining confidence among our supporters. That’s why there will be some transfer activity in January to make sure the team stays competitive and finishes the season strongly.”

Preparing for January: Strengthening Core Positions

According to Faliq, NSFC have already started shortlisting potential signings, primarily focusing on the defensive line and central midfield — areas identified as priorities after recent injuries.

“We’ve begun evaluating a few targets, especially for the back four and the centre-midfield positions,” he explained. “We’re not chasing big names — our focus is on reliable and consistent players who can strengthen the squad depth.”

He emphasized that the upcoming transfers are intended to support the existing squad, not to overhaul it, ensuring the club remains financially sustainable while improving competitiveness.

“Our approach is practical. We want players who can contribute immediately if needed, but we also have to manage our budget carefully,” he said. “We don’t want to overspend — we want to build a club that can last.”

Alex Agyarkwa’s Future Under Review

Addressing speculation surrounding Ghanaian midfielder Alex Agyarkwa, Faliq confirmed that the club is aware of the possibility of the player’s departure and has prepared contingency plans.

“We’ve taken note of the possibility that Alex might be recalled or returned,” Faliq said. “That’s why we’ve already prepared a Plan B to counter that situation if it happens.”

Although no final decision has been made, Faliq assured supporters that the club’s management and technical team are aligned and ready to act swiftly should Agyarkwa’s status change.

“What I can share is that there will definitely be transfer activity in January,” he confirmed. “We’ve already started shortlisting our potential signings in case we need to replace Alex or fill other crucial roles.”

Focus on Sustainability and Long-Term Growth

Faliq reiterated that NSFC’s transfer philosophy prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term glamour.

“Our transfer approach is always long-term,” he explained. “If you look at players like Wai Lin Aung and Filip Anderson, both are in their early 20s — these are players we can develop for years ahead.”

He further stressed that any mid-season reinforcements would be carefully selected to balance immediate team needs and financial discipline.

“Whether or not they are big names depends on our capability and the team’s requirements,” Faliq said. “The most important thing is we don’t burst our budget. We’re planning for next season too, so we must remain financially healthy.”

Building for a Strong Finish

With Negeri Sembilan FC still in the process of rebuilding under head coach Nidzam Jamil, the upcoming transfer window represents a key opportunity to consolidate progress and regain consistency after a mixed start to the season.

“The match against Terengganu later this month will be very important to restore confidence among our fans,” said Faliq. “We believe we’re still on the right track — these upcoming signings will help us stay competitive and finish the season well.”

As the January window approaches, Negeri Sembilan FC’s careful planning and proactive approach underline their commitment to steady growth — balancing ambition with financial responsibility. Whether or not Alex Agyarkwa remains part of the squad, Faliq Firdaus and his team are determined to ensure that Sang Rusa remain competitive, united, and ready for the next phase of their journey.

STAR Paroi Set for Gradual Upgrades as Negeri Sembilan FC Continue to Rise

As Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) continue to build momentum both on and off the pitch, their home ground — Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR), Paroi — is preparing for a much-needed transformation.

The stadium, a historic landmark for Negeri Sembilan football, will soon undergo a series of phased upgrades, including essential repairs, new commercial features, and a fresh paint job to revitalize its appearance.

In an interview with Harimau Malaya, NSFC Chief Executive Officer Faliq Firdaus revealed that the club’s resurgence and the surge in fan attendance have reignited efforts to restore and modernize the stadium after years without major improvements.

“Over the last 10 to 20 years, there haven’t been any significant upgrades at STAR Paroi,” said Faliq. “But now that fans are coming back in huge numbers — we’ve had four full-house games this season — it’s clear that the stadium deserves to evolve along with the team.”

Fan Support Driving Change

This season, the Sang Rusa faithful have filled STAR Paroi to near capacity, with several matches attracting more than 20,000 spectators — among the best attendances in the Malaysia Super League.

“This kind of support is a blessing,” Faliq said. “We’ve generated between RM1.5 to RM2 million in ticket revenue — a huge help for a club of our size. That income allows us to reinvest in the stadium, improving facilities for both fans and players.”

He added that the overwhelming fan turnout has also caught the attention of Majlis Bandaraya Seremban (MBS), which has now allocated a budget for stadium enhancement works.

Phased Improvements Underway

The planned upgrades for STAR Paroi will be carried out in stages, ensuring sustainable implementation without disrupting match schedules.

“MBS has started drafting the improvement plan, and certain repair works will begin soon,” said Faliq. “From the club’s side, we’ve also initiated several efforts to refresh and modernize the stadium environment.”

Among the upcoming enhancements are:

  • Electrical system upgrades to improve matchday operations and lighting stability.
  • A new LED advertising board sponsorship, adding to the club’s commercial strength.
  • The launch of an official NSFC Concept Store within the stadium concourse.
  • A comprehensive paint job to rejuvenate the stadium’s exterior and seating areas, giving STAR Paroi a brighter, more modern look that reflects NSFC’s current energy.
  • Evaluation of new grass technology, with Zoysia being tested as a replacement for traditional cow grass — in line with the MFL’s 2027 surface regulations.

Collaboration for a Modern Home

Faliq emphasized that the stadium development project reflects NSFC’s long-term vision and close cooperation with local authorities.

“We’re improving things gradually, step by step,” he said. “The key is continuous progress. When the team performs well and fans fill the stands, it motivates everyone — from the club to the city council — to keep pushing for better facilities.”

As the spiritual home of Negeri Sembilan football, STAR Paroi is more than just a venue — it’s the heartbeat of Sekalian Yang Setia. With a wave of upgrades, a new coat of paint, and renewed support from fans and partners, the stadium is ready to shine again — embodying the pride, passion, and perseverance of Negeri Sembilan FC.

Mantin Training Centre: A Milestone for Negeri Sembilan Football

Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) continues to stride forward with a bold vision for long-term excellence, as the club confirmed significant progress on its upcoming Mantin Training Centre — a modern football complex that will serve as the new home for the Sang Rusa’s daily training and player development.

Chief Executive Officer Faliq Firdaus revealed that the project, developed in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Seremban (MBS), has entered its final stages of land lease finalisation.

“The land lease agreement is being finalised for 18 to 21 years. We expect our Super League squad to start training there by early next year,” he said.

The Mantin Training Centre will be developed in three phases, beginning with the construction of a full-sized professional training pitch, followed by a multipurpose complex that will include dressing rooms, physiotherapy areas, meeting halls, and fitness facilities. The final phase will integrate supporting infrastructure and future expansion zones for academy use and potential sports science laboratories.

One of the most exciting aspects of the project is the planned use of Zoysia grass, a surface type that aligns with the Malaysian Football League’s 2027 regulation to phase out traditional cow grass across professional venues. Known for its durability, playability, and minimal maintenance, Zoysia turf will place NSFC among the few Malaysian clubs ready for the new standard well ahead of schedule.

Setting a New Benchmark in Malaysian Football Infrastructure

Once completed, the Mantin Training Centre hopefully can elevate NSFC’s standards to a level comparable with established global facilities such as Carrington, the famed training ground of Manchester United.

Much like Carrington — which integrates multiple training fields, rehabilitation zones, analytics departments, and media facilities — NSFC’s vision is to build a holistic environment that promotes performance, recovery, education, and professional culture.

While Carrington became a symbol of Manchester United’s modernisation in the early 2000s, Mantin represents Negeri Sembilan’s new football era — rooted in sustainability, community collaboration, and the ambition to produce future talents through science-based training and data-driven performance management.

A Step Toward Sustainable Growth

Beyond serving the Super League team, the Mantin facility will eventually open pathways for youth academy integration, women’s football development, and grassroots partnerships across Negeri Sembilan. Its location in Mantin — strategically positioned between Seremban and Nilai — allows accessibility for players, staff, and regional football networks.

With this project, Negeri Sembilan FC reinforces its long-term commitment to building not just a competitive team, but a sustainable football ecosystem for the future.

The Sang Rusa are not merely preparing for the next season — they are laying the foundation for the next generation.
