Azri Ghani’s Penalty Antics Go Viral

Negeri Sembilan FC goalkeeper Azri Ghani stole the spotlight during the FA Cup Round of 16 second leg against PDRM FC with his unexpected celebration that left fans across Malaysia entertained.

The moment unfolded when referee Mohamad Nawal Mohammad Zubir awarded PDRM a penalty after Azri was adjudged to have fouled Henri Doumbia inside the box. Ahmed Israiwah, a Jordanian midfielder for The Cops, stepped up to take the spot kick but fired his effort high over the bar.

Relieved and ecstatic, Azri celebrated by dancing directly in front of Israiwah — a move that sparked laughter from his teammate Luis Fernando Nsue and quickly went viral after being broadcast on Astro Arena’s platforms.

Fans on social media were quick to draw comparisons to Argentina’s World Cup–winning goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martinez, who is known for his cheeky mind games during penalties.

“Geng Dibu Martinez,” joked one fan, Bang Pirlo, on X.

“Nakallah Azri Ghani sekarang,” added another supporter, Siraap_Bandung, on Instagram.

User Muxmeen commented, “Emi Martinez would be proud (of that dance).”

Although the match ended in a 1–0 win for PDRM, their first victory of the 2025/26 season, Negeri Sembilan progressed to the FA Cup quarterfinals with a 5–1 aggregate triumph.

Azri’s playful antics may not have changed the result on the night, but they certainly added a lighter, unforgettable moment to the fixture — one that has now endeared him even more to fans of Malaysian football.

Jovan Motica: “These Goals Are for the Fans”

Negeri Sembilan FC enjoyed a memorable night at Paroi, with Jovan Motica stealing the spotlight after scoring twice in a convincing win. The Serbian forward dedicated his goals to the supporters and praised the spirit within the squad.

“These two goals are for them,” said Motica, referring to the young fans who had greeted him after the match. “I’m just proud and happy with my teammates. From the first game, we’ve shown that we can play against everyone. We want to challenge all the teams in this league. I hope the fans enjoyed tonight’s win.”

Despite his brace, Motica remained humble about his contribution.

“I didn’t expect it. I don’t care about the goals. I don’t think about scoring — I just play and enjoy football. Thanks to the fans for their support. Thank you, and see you in the next game.”

Alongside Motica’s joy, goalkeeper Azri Ghani reminded that the season remains a long journey, urging the team to stay grounded.

“So far, we’ve shown good performances, but we know there are no easy matches. We have to take it one game at a time. There are still many games to come, and Insha’Allah, we will keep showing strong performances.”

The blend of Motica’s firepower and Azri’s leadership reflects the balance within Negeri Sembilan FC — a team hungry to compete while keeping its feet firmly on the ground. With both stars delivering on and off the pitch, the Sang Rusa faithful can look forward to more special nights this season.

Azri, Takumi Gear Up for Stern Test Against Defending Champions JDT

Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) goalkeeper Azri Ghani is prepared to deliver his very best as the Hobin Jang Hobin prepare to face the formidable challenge of 11-time consecutive Super League champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium tomorrow night.

The experienced shot-stopper admits last season’s encounters against JDT did not produce favourable results, but he is determined to turn the tide in the 2025–2026 campaign.

“My record against JDT last season wasn’t great. This year, I want to produce a strong performance and help the team compete at 100 percent. We aim to leave the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium with a positive result, InshaAllah,” said Azri, who has represented the Malaysian national team.

Meanwhile, Japanese midfielder Takumi Sasaki is ready to shoulder creative responsibilities in the heart of midfield, determined to unlock JDT’s defence by maximising the attacking strengths of NSFC’s forwards and wingers.

“We have excellent strikers and wingers in the squad. My role is to create opportunities for them, and we work hard to attack and defend together as a team – especially when facing strong opponents like JDT,” he said.

Tomorrow’s clash will serve as a significant early-season test for head coach Nidzam Jamil and his men as they aim to begin their Super League campaign with confidence and resilience against one of the most dominant forces in Malaysian football.
