Mio Tsuneyasu the Hero as NSFC Stun Selangor at Paroi
Paroi, 24 August 2025 – Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) registered their first Super League victory of the season in dramatic fashion, coming from behind to defeat Selangor FC 2-1 in front of a roaring 25,550 fans at Stadium Tuanku Abdul Rahman.
Selangor Strike First
The visitors started strongly, with early pressure paying off in the 12th minute. Richmond Tetteh Ankrah rose highest to head home from a Laine Nooa Hamzah corner, leaving NSFC goalkeeper Azri Ghani with no chance.
The goal spurred The Jang into action. Joseph Esso almost equalised in the 20th minute with a sharp effort, only to be denied by Selangor goalkeeper Kalamullah Al-Hafiz. The Red Giants’ shot-stopper was again called into action on the stroke of half-time, tipping away a thunderous free-kick from Harith Samsuri.
Tactical Switch Turns the Tide
Head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil made a bold substitution in the 70th minute, introducing Japanese forward Mio Tsuneyasu for A. Selvan. The move proved decisive.
Tsuneyasu wasted no time making his mark, latching onto the ball to fire home the equaliser in the 82nd minute, sending Paroi into raptures.
With the game seemingly headed for a draw, Tsuneyasu struck again in stoppage time (90+3), clinically finishing a counter-attack to complete his brace and seal all three points for Negeri Sembilan.
Statement Victory for Sang Rusa
The comeback marked a significant moment for NSFC, who had impressed in their opening two fixtures despite mixed results. After pushing defending champions JDT in a 3–5 thriller and demolishing PDRM 5–0 in the FA Cup, this victory against Selangor showcased the team’s resilience and attacking depth.
With Tsuneyasu’s heroics, NSFC not only claimed their first win of the season but also sent a strong message to the rest of the league: the Sang Rusa are ready to challenge.
